Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Life Cycle Assessment is an internationally standardised methodology (ISO 14040). LCA helps quantify environmental impact related to goods and services (products), environmental benefits, trade-offs and areas for improvement taking into account the entire life cycle of the product.
LCAs are increasingly used by companies as a tool to reduce their overall environmental impact and also used to improve the competitiveness of a company’s products, as well as to apply for environmental certifications.

WHAT WE DO

Circularity support companies through the entire Life Cycle Assessment procedure, which consists of four main phases.

Defining goals and objectives

Identify the goals, impact categories and the set of processes interconnected by product flows (ISO 14040). The functional unit is also identified: the product on which to base the analysis and comparison with possible alternatives.

02
Life cycle inventory (LCI) analysis

The collection of data to be used in the assessment phase, which in turn is divided into three steps: the creation of a flow chart, the collection of data and the processing and presentation of the results.

Assessment of impacts

This consists of classification and characterisation (mandatory) and normalisation and weighing (optional). During classification, the collected data are categorised, and characterisation involves the determination of individual emissions.

03
04
Interpretation and improvement

The results of the previous steps are summarised, analysed and discussed with the aim of identifying possible areas for improvement, ensuring final mitigation of environmental impacts.

WHY WE DO IT

The advantage of the LCA is that it is a single tool that can provide detailed information about the environmental pressures, human health and resource consumption of your production processes.

MATERIALS
SWOT Analysis

Obtaining objective data with which to identify the criticalities and strengths of the system, fundamental for identifying improvement actions towards sustainability

EVALUATE YOUR
SUPPLY CHAIN

An LCA enables concrete economic benefits to be obtained by carrying out actions such as Green Procurement: the identification of more sustainable suppliers and raw materials.

INCREASE
Efficiency

An LCA allows to make production processes more efficient, improving the management of aspects such as recyclability and durability of products in view of the circular economy.
