From the Environmental Report to the first ESG Report for an Italian luxury Maison

Environmental Report based on GRI standards, ESG Sustainability Report
Textiles

Fashion and luxury company

A leader in the production of wool and cashmere, this Maison represents Italian excellence in the luxury sector, combining artisanal tradition with research into noble materials.

The context

The fashion and luxury industry is one of the sectors that in recent years has most attracted the attention and concern of consumers and institutions sensitive and aware of sustainability issues.

The issues involving the fashion and luxury supply chain include:

  • Threat to biodiversity due to the production of raw materials of animal and plant origin.

  • Consumption and pollution of water resources caused by the production phase and the use of chemicals.

  • Interruption of the life cycle of unsold products through destruction.

The objectives

Build an incremental ESG reporting path, starting from an Environmental Report and progressing to the first complete Sustainability Report.

Circularity's contribution

1

FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT TO THE SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

A journey that began in 2021, taking its first steps with the drafting of an Environmental Report according to GRI standards, in order to convey all the Maison's ongoing initiatives and performance regarding:

  • Sourcing of raw materials

  • Animal welfare and biodiversity

  • Consumption of water and energy resources

  • Greenhouse gas emissions

  • Waste management

2

ESG REPORTING

At the beginning of 2022 the reporting scope was expanded, consolidating the environmental dimension and extending toward social and governance topics, such as:

  • Human resources management
  • Welfare and benefits
  • Transparency and shared value

In doing so, the Maison succeeded in building its first Sustainability Report, temporarily intended for internal use to involve and engage its employees.

The Maison intends to make the Sustainability Report accessible to external stakeholders as well, so as to communicate its ESG commitment to the entire market, aligning with current trends and gaining a competitive advantage over competitors that can no longer be overlooked.

The results

The company now has an internal management and external communication tool capable of strengthening credibility, engaging employees and strategically positioning itself in the sustainable luxury market.
  • 2021 Environmental Report according to GRI standards

  • First 2022 ESG Sustainability Report

  • Reporting on environmental, social and governance topics

  • Internal employee engagement tool
