BCN Concerie is an Italian company that has been working leather for over 70 years, specializing in the production of high-quality leathers for the fashion and furniture sectors. Founded in 1950 in Santa Croce sull'Arno, Tuscany, BCN has become an international leader in its field, thanks to its focus on quality and the Italian craft tradition.

The context

BCN Concerie wanted to give concrete form to its commitment to sustainability and to report to its stakeholders on the actions taken to minimize its environmental and social impact.


Although not required to do so by the new European CSRD directive, the company decided to draw up its first Sustainability Report to increase transparency.

The objectives

Drafting the first Sustainability Report in line with international reporting standards, adopting the principle of double materiality to identify material topics and clearly communicate positive and negative impacts.

Circularity's intervention

Circularity supported BCN Concerie in the process of drafting the Sustainability Report, following the AccountAbility 1000 and GRI standards, and involving the entire stakeholder base.


The work was organized into several phases:

Adoption of double materiality: identification of the relationships between risk factors and related impacts, defining the negative and positive externalities for which the company is responsible.

Identification of material topics: identification of 12 material topics to associate with positive and negative impacts, according to GRI guidelines.

Stakeholder engagement: analysis of the feedback from 13 involved stakeholders, to ensure that the Report reflects their expectations and concerns.

Definition of sustainability best practices: application of best practices to highlight relevant impacts, set priorities and plan business activities.

Monitoring and evaluation: inclusion of specific KPIs to monitor ESG performance and continuous improvement.

 

The results

BCN Concerie now has a Sustainability Report compliant with international standards, which transparently documents ESG performance and demonstrates the company's commitment to sustainability.


The Report made it possible to identify priority material topics, clearly communicate the actions taken and engage stakeholders in the improvement journey.
