Biofarma Group

Biofarma Group is a leading company in the nutraceutical sector, specialized in the research and development, manufacturing and packaging of food supplements, medical devices, probiotic-based drugs and cosmetics, exclusively on a third-party basis.

With revenues of over 400 million euros and more than a thousand employees, the Group operates 8 production facilities in Italy, France, the United States and China. It works at high levels of specialization to deliver innovative and tailored solutions, with the goal of being a benchmark in the health and wellness market.

The context

Biofarma Group had launched concrete actions towards sustainability, but it lacked a structured strategy capable of turning commitment into measurable objectives, reporting progress transparently and aligning with emerging regulations such as the CSRD Directive.

The company wanted to set up a more structured approach, based on tools able to monitor impacts, engage the supply chain and report on results.

The objectives

Build an integrated sustainability strategy, report ESG performance through a Sustainability Report compliant with international standards, and map climate impact with a structured Carbon Management Plan.

Circularity's contribution

We have supported Biofarma Group on a multi-year reporting and strategy journey, launched in 2020 and still ongoing, structured across several areas:

1
Development of the 2023-2025 Strategic Plan: definition of clear and measurable ESG objectives, with an update of the materiality process in compliance with the CSRD Directive and the involvement of top management to align objectives with the Group's operational expansion.
2
Drafting of the Sustainability Report: publication of the 2023 Report and preparation of the 2024 update, to report progress and generated impacts with full transparency.
3
Carbon Management Plan: calculation of GHG emissions on Scope 1, 2 and 3, with a progressive update roadmap to involve all production facilities.
4
Supply chain Sustainability Assessment: analysis of the significant supply chain through Circularity's digital tool, in line with the requirements of the upcoming CSDDD Directive.

This work enabled Biofarma Group to implement several strategic projects, including obtaining the "Top Employers 2024" certification and joining the United Nations Global Compact framework.

The results

Biofarma Group now has a solid, operational sustainability strategy, with clear objectives and structured monitoring tools.

The company has published its Sustainability Report, defined a comprehensive Carbon Management Plan covering all emission Scopes and mapped the significant supply chain with a view to regulatory compliance and impact reduction.

The journey has strengthened the Group's reputation as a benchmark for sustainability in the nutraceutical sector.
