BNL Italy Major Premier Padel

The BNL Italy Major Premier Padel is one of the four most important tournaments on the Premier Padel circuit, organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) with the support of the Professional Padel Association (PPA).

The event took place in Rome at the magnificent Parco del Foro Italico.

The context

The organizers of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel wanted to integrate environmental sustainability into the practices and activities of the sporting event, standing out for their attention to environmental issues and promoting the circular economy.


To achieve this, they needed a partner capable of researching, activating, managing, and monitoring concrete initiatives for waste reduction, in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda.

The objectives

Implement a sustainability path with concrete initiatives for the circular management of waste and the promotion of the circular economy during the event.

Circularity's intervention

Circularity was selected as the official Sustainability Partner of the tournament, with the role of researching, activating, managing, and monitoring innovative initiatives aimed at reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.


The initiatives implemented focused on two strategic areas:

Collection and recycling of used balls: installation of Boxes for the collection and recycling of balls which, through a process of sorting, separation, and processing, become secondary raw material destined for the creation of athletics tracks and anti-trauma flooring for playgrounds.

Recovery and recycling of cigarette butts: installation of numerous "smokers-point" ashtray columns located throughout the Foro Italico. The butts collected are sent for recycling through a patented process, transforming them into cellulose acetate to produce new objects.

Eco-compactors for recycling plastic, paper, and aluminum: installation of eco-compactors in strategic positions with 3 dedicated openings for PET bottles, aluminum cans, and paper coffee cups. The machinery reduces the volume of waste by up to 90%, facilitating the proper recycling of the different materials.

 

The results

The BNL Italy Major Premier Padel stood out for the attention it paid to environmental sustainability issues, putting in place concrete actions to encourage the circular economy and promote sustainable development.


Thanks to the commitment and active research of innovative and virtuous solutions by Circularity, the event represented an example of how major sporting events can integrate sustainable practices.
