It is an SME based in Corridonia, in the province of Macerata, specialized in the painting and lacquering of semi-finished and finished wood and/or metal products for the production of high-quality furnishing elements.
The context
The company operates in the painting and lacquering sector with a highly energy-intensive production process.
In a market increasingly focused on environmental sustainability, CM Laccature has decided to measure its carbon impact in order to identify opportunities for emissions reduction and stand out as a responsible company.
The objectives
Achieve Carbon Neutrality with a zero carbon footprint by the end of 2021.
Circularity's intervention
EMISSIONS MEASUREMENT
The project began with a survey of the main items of the mass and energy balance in terms of emissions from energy supply, raw materials and waste at the Corridonia plant.
The reported emissions arise from operations over which CM Laccature has full operational control.
The company's emissions profile was defined over the 2019-2020 period, serving as the starting point for the implementation of a carbon reduction and offsetting plan.
REDUCTION AND OFFSETTING
Circularity drew up a Report in compliance with the relevant standards (GHG protocol, ISO 14064), outlining the path for improving environmental sustainability.
Reduction actions were proposed, focused mainly on energy carriers through:
- Offsetting projects such as reforestation initiatives
- Purchase of 100% renewable energy with guarantee of origin for indirect emissions
- Offsetting guidelines to make processes more efficient with a view to carbon neutrality
The results
CM Laccature obtained the Neutrality Certificate issued by Circularity, a guarantee that already in 2021 it had a zero carbon footprint.
Emissions accounting made it possible to identify the most effective reduction opportunities aimed at optimizing resource consumption, increasing energy efficiency and potentially reducing costs.
The company was able to differentiate itself and stand out in a market increasingly attentive to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
