Cobat Consorzi
RIPA, TYRE and RAEE are three of the operational consortia within the Cobat group, Italy's reference point for the circular economy in the recovery of end-of-life products.
Through dedicated supply chains, they coordinate the collection and treatment of end-of-life tyres, batteries and accumulators, and waste electrical and electronic equipment, transforming what the market considers waste into new raw materials for industry. A strategic role in the country's ecological transition — one that called for reporting of equal standing.
The context
For those operating at the heart of the circular economy, consistency between mission and reporting is not optional: it is a matter of credibility. RIPA, TYRE and RAEE manage significant flows of end-of-life materials every year, generating a positive and measurable environmental impact.
Yet translating the operational complexity of three consortia active across different supply chains into a clear, comparable Sustainability Report aligned with the new European standards was a concrete challenge. The need was to harmonise data, systematise information collection processes and build a reporting tool capable of communicating authoritatively with institutions, businesses and sector stakeholders.
The objectives
To ensure transparency on their operations, establish a periodic ESG performance monitoring system for the RIPA, TYRE and RAEE consortia, and consolidate their positioning as the reference partner for circular waste management in Italy.
Circularity's intervention
The project developed through a structured reporting process, designed to transform operational flows into strategic information assets:
Materiality assessment
Circularity identified the most relevant impacts for each consortium's supply chains, defining the strategic priorities on which to build the report narrative. The analysis took into account the operational specificities of each consortium, ensuring an authentic and non-generic representation of the value generated.
Data management and reporting standards
A granular data collection system was implemented, capable of integrating information from the different operational supply chains. The process ensured full alignment with GRI Standards through the identification of entity-specific standards.
Drafting and design of the three Reports
Circularity oversaw the drafting of the Sustainability Reports for RIPA, TYRE and RAEE and their visual identity, making complex technical data accessible and highlighting the concrete contribution of the consortia to the territory. Each document was designed to communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders: from institutions and industrial partners to consortium members.
The results
The Sustainability Reports are now the key instrument for RIPA, TYRE and RAEE's dialogue with institutions and businesses. Their publication has ensured adherence to regulatory obligations, strengthened the consortia's positioning as centres of excellence in circular waste management, and provided governance with a clear vision of medium and long-term strategic objectives.
Three documents that do not simply recount results achieved, but lay the information foundation for future decisions.
