Funivie Monte Bianco

Funivie Monte Bianco S.p.A. operates the cable car that for over 60 years has been taking visitors from all over the world to discover Mont Blanc: mountaineers, mountain enthusiasts, tourists.

Since 2000, the company has launched a major modernization project of the original 1940s system. The works, started in 2011 and completed in 2015, gave rise to a modern and efficient structure that allows visitors to reach otherwise inaccessible panoramas.

Always attentive to sustainability, Funivie Monte Bianco has chosen to align with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, integrating these objectives into its business strategy and transparently communicating its ESG performance through its Sustainability Reports.

The context

Funivie Monte Bianco had already developed a strong awareness of the importance of sustainability, but it lacked a structured tool to measure, report and credibly communicate its environmental, social and governance performance.

Going beyond declarations meant building a solid, verifiable document that complies with international standards, with external certification to guarantee its credibility.

The objectives

Draft the Sustainability Report according to the GRI Standards and support the company in the assurance process with the certification body TÜV, ensuring transparency, methodological rigor and alignment with international best practices.

Circularity's intervention

We supported Funivie Monte Bianco in drafting the 2022 and 2023 Sustainability Reports, structuring the work in three phases:

Collection of qualitative and quantitative data shared through structured forms (Word and Excel) with the various corporate functions. Every piece of information was verified to ensure consistency and accuracy in line with the required standards.

Drafting of the Sustainability Report prepared according to the GRI Standards, with a "with reference to" approach, to clearly communicate ESG performance, commitments made and future actions toward greater integration of sustainability within the company.

Support for external assurance during all activities preparatory to the certification of the Report by TÜV, ensuring the document's compliance and preparing the team for the verification process.

The results

Funivie Monte Bianco now has a structured, certified and internationally recognized reporting tool that transparently communicates its ESG performance.


The 2022 and 2023 Sustainability Reports have enabled the company to accurately measure its environmental, social and governance impacts, credibly communicate its commitment to sustainability and align with the most recent regulations (CSRD, ESRS, double materiality).
