Milano Premier Padel

The Milano Premier Padel P1 is the prestigious tournament of the circuit promoted and recognized by the FIP International Padel Federation, the benchmark for padel worldwide.

The event, held from December 5 to 11, 2022 at the Allianz Cloud, was coordinated by NSA Group, a leading company in the sports-entertainment market.

The context

NSA Group wanted to organize a major international sporting event by integrating environmental sustainability as a distinctive element. A structured approach was needed to manage the waste produced during the tournament, track its journey and report the environmental impact generated.

The goal was to turn the event into a virtuous example of the circular economy, raising participants' awareness and optimizing the management of materials through innovative solutions.

The objectives

Implement a circular waste management system for the Milano Premier Padel P1 event, monitoring, tracking and reporting material flows and quantifying the environmental impact in terms of CO2 equivalent.

Circularity's contribution

Circularity was selected as the official Sustainability Partner of the tournament, developing a circular economy path structured across several initiatives:

1
Circular waste management: installation of waste bins for separate collection within the venue, with management entrusted to Haiki+, a company specialized in material separation and in tailored collection, treatment and recovery services.
2
Eco-compactors for plastic recycling: installation of eco-compactor machines with waste separation and compaction systems, which reduce volume by up to 90% and ensure the proper management of the collection and recycling of PET from plastic bottles.
3
Collection and recycling of used balls: transformation of the balls from waste to a resource through a processing and recycling process that produces a granulate donated free of charge to public administrations for the construction of new athletics tracks and impact-absorbing surfaces for play areas.
4
Flow tracking and reporting: calculation of the environmental impact generated by waste management in terms of CO2 equivalent, reporting emissions both in the transport phase and in the treatment and recovery/disposal phase, based on the type of material and the efficiency of the final destination plants.

The results

The Milano Premier Padel P1 tournament became a virtuous example of promoting environmental sustainability and the circular economy in the context of major sporting events.

The implementation of the circular economy projects brought numerous operational benefits: raising participants' awareness of the proper disposal of waste, optimizing transport logistics and sending waste directly to recycling plants.

The organization gained the ability to understand its own environmental impact and to strengthen its commitment to sustainability.

  • Structured separate collection system

  • Eco-compactors installed with volume reduction of up to 90%

  • Used balls recycled and donated for public projects

  • Complete reporting of CO2 equivalent emissions

  • Raising participants' awareness toward sustainable practices

  • Event recognized as a virtuous example of circularity
