Turning textile waste into a valuable resource

Circular waste management
Textiles

Monvania S.R.L.

Monvania is a company specialized in the finishing of continuous, artificial and synthetic yarns for the textile industry, entirely made in Italy.

With 3 production units, it distributes over 3,000 tons/year of yarn, positioning itself among the European leaders in the sector.

Its products are intended for women's and men's apparel (weaving and knitwear), furnishings and the technical sector.

The context

Monvania generated production waste in the yarn finishing process, but had no visibility into what happened after collection: actual recovery supply chains, consistency of the prices applied with respect to the real value of the material, concrete recycling percentages, environmental benefits generated.

The company wanted to move from the logic of waste as a "problem to be solved" to that of a resource to be valorized, but it lacked the technical, regulatory and economic expertise needed to navigate the world of materials' end of life.

The objectives

Valorizing textile production waste through conscious circular management: mapping actual recovery supply chains, verifying the economic consistency of collection contracts, quantifying the environmental benefits of recycling, and identifying authorized partners for recovery.

Circularity's intervention

We built a complete mapping of the circular supply chains accessible to Monvania's textile waste.

1

Materials analysis and quotations: in-depth review of yarn finishing waste types, market quotations for recycled textiles, price dynamics and value logics, final outlet markets and future prospects of recycling technologies.

2

Scouting recovery partners: identified companies authorized to treat textile waste interested in Monvania's waste, verifying for each: recycling operations carried out, logistical distance, economic conditions per material, delivery requirements.

3

Quantification of environmental impacts: calculated average values of impacts avoided thanks to the recycling of the different materials handled and effective recyclability percentages, providing precise and communicable data.

4
Regulatory framework: analyzed the conditions for the potential qualification of waste as by-products and the legislative framework for compliant management of textile waste.
5

Customized final report: delivered partner mapping, economic comparison, improvement insights on current management, quantified environmental data, and operational regulatory guidance.

The results

  • Visibility on circular supply chains: Monvania obtained detailed mapping of authorized partners for the effective recovery of textile waste, going beyond disposal or waste exchange logics.

  • Economic optimization: verified the consistency of collection prices with respect to the real value of the material, with a comparison among different valorization options and logistical conditions.

  • Quantification of environmental benefits: obtained certified data on avoided impacts and effective recycling percentages to communicate to customers the company's circular contribution.

  • Management autonomy: acquired technical and regulatory expertise to navigate the world of textile end of life consciously, evaluating by-product opportunities and future strategic choices.
