For over twenty years, this Brescia-based company has been designing and manufacturing technical components for various industrial sectors, focusing on precision and production flexibility.
The context
Plastic is at the center of a deep regulatory and perceptual review.
Politec chose to proactively address this challenge, seeking to understand the real impact of its products throughout their entire life cycle in order to promote the use of recycled polymers and eco-design solutions.
The objectives
Develop a rigorous LCA study according to the ISO 14040 standard to obtain EPD environmental declarations and drive product innovation.
Circularity's intervention
We analyzed the molding processes with an analytical, data-driven approach:
Definition of the Functional Unit and Boundaries: We set the parameters of the LCA study to accurately reflect Politec's transformation and assembly activities.
Audit of Energy and Material Flows (LCI): We mapped the consumption of the presses and the sourcing of plastic resins, analyzing the impact of each production phase on the environmental footprint.
Identification of Improvement Levers: We provided comparative scenarios to evaluate the use of secondary raw materials and more efficient production techniques, reducing the overall footprint of the product.
