Sibeg Coca-Cola in Sicily
Sibeg Coca-Cola in Sicily is the franchise bottler operator that oversees the production and development of The Coca-Cola Company beverages throughout the Sicilian territory.
Always proactive and ahead of the curve, over the years Sibeg has taken several important steps toward a more sustainable production model: a 100% electric sales fleet, expansion of self-generated electricity capacity through photovoltaics, installation of charging stations and careful monitoring of energy consumption.
The context
Sibeg had independently undertaken numerous sustainability projects, but needed to organize them under a common strategy in order to prioritize future actions.
A complete, structured picture of corporate emissions was required to identify hotspots and define a decarbonization path consistent with international targets.
It was therefore necessary to find a partner able to measure the carbon footprint according to international standards and to define a tailored reduction plan.
The objectives
Circularity's intervention
Calculation of the carbon footprint according to the international ISO 14064 standard, analyzing both direct and indirect emissions. The in-depth, broad-spectrum analysis provided a detailed picture of the various emission-related activities, highlighting the main hotspots and assessing the quality of the available data, thus properly prioritizing the areas of intervention.
Decarbonization plan:
Development of a decarbonization plan tailored to Sibeg, integrated with the company's future evolution prospects and consistent with the reduction targets identified by the Science Based Targets (SBTs). The various proposed projects were characterized and pre-qualified in terms of:

The final Report includes the methodological and bibliographic references needed to support the certification process of the corporate carbon footprint.

The company gained a detailed picture of its emissions, with identification of hotspots and an operational plan for reduction in line with the Science Based Targets.
