Bianchi Industry
A historic global leader in the Vending market and professional coffee machines.
With roots dating back to 1959, the company is a symbol of technological innovation applied to coffee culture.
The context
In a market evolving toward circular economy and "Product-as-a-Service" models, Bianchi Industry set out to analyze the entire life cycle of its vending machines.
The challenge was to go beyond the analysis of energy consumption alone, in order to include the impact of materials, production, and end-of-life.
The objectives
To obtain a rigorous scientific assessment through the LCA study in order to guide the eco-design of future models and provide transparent data to customers (EPD).
Circularity's intervention
Our technical team applied the ISO 14040/44 methodology following a "cradle-to-grave" approach:
Detailed Inventory Analysis (LCI): We broke down the machines into each individual material and plastic component, analyzing the flows of energy and resources required for manufacturing and assembly.
Environmental Impact Assessment: Using specific software, we calculated the potential impact across various categories (global warming, water consumption, acidification), identifying the "hotspots" of the life cycle.
Support for Eco-Design and Green Procurement: Based on the results, we suggested actions to improve the repairability of the machines and the selection of recyclable or lower-impact materials, in order to reduce the overall footprint of the product.
The results
-
EPD Certification: A decisive competitive advantage for participating in public and private tenders.
-
Production efficiency: Reduction of raw material waste and optimization of consumption.
-
Data-driven innovation: New products are designed starting from scientific sustainability foundations.
