Menarini
Menarini is an Italian pharmaceutical group with 135 years of history: founded in 1886 in Naples, it has been headquartered in Florence since 1915.
Today it operates with a direct presence in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central America and the United States, advancing a global vision rooted in Italy.
The context
The pharmaceutical market is undergoing a profound transformation: consumers, investors and institutions are asking companies not only for effective products, but also for a positive, measurable impact on the environment, health and society.
Menarini had already launched several sustainability initiatives, from recovering production waste to improving the energy efficiency of its plants, but these actions were unevenly distributed across the various European production sites, without a common direction capable of turning them into a strategic competitive advantage.
The company wanted to make sustainability the main driver of its business, not an appendix: it needed a structured framework, able to integrate ESG criteria into the operating model and generate lasting value over time.
The objectives
Circularity's contribution
Together with Altis, we supported Menarini in developing a tailor-made ESG strategy, involving several European facilities and structuring the project in three consecutive phases:
Each intervention was calibrated to the specific features of the individual production sites, ensuring strategic consistency and operational flexibility.
The results
Menarini has transformed sustainability from a set of fragmented initiatives into a strategic lever integrated into the business, with an operational roadmap that guides decisions on a European scale.
The Strategic Plan systematized the best practices already in place, such as waste recovery and energy efficiency, and opened up new lines of action, strengthening the Group's competitive positioning in international markets.
