Plastica Alfa

An ESG Plan with measurable KPIs to drive innovation and efficiency in the plastics sector

Strategic Plan and Sustainability Report

Plastica Alfa

Plastica Alfa is an Italian company that has been operating for over thirty years in the field of plastics processing.

The company specializes in four main sectors: irrigation & landscaping (Agribusiness), plumbing (water network), water treatment, and HVAC.

In recent years, it has focused its strategy on innovation, reducing raw material consumption, minimizing environmental impacts, and developing eco-sustainable products.

The context

Plastica Alfa had already undertaken initiatives for environmental improvement and the development of sustainable products, but it lacked an integrated medium to long-term strategic vision.

The company wanted to transform individual actions into a structured pathway, defining clear priorities, measurable objectives, and consistency with the Business Plan.

Although not subject to non-financial reporting obligations, it also wished to transparently communicate its concrete commitment to sustainability to its stakeholders and the community through an official document.

The objectives

To define a three-year Strategic Sustainability Plan with concrete, measurable actions, aligned with the SDGs and the Business Plan, and to voluntarily draft the first Sustainability Report to communicate ESG performance to stakeholders.

Circularity's contribution

We built the sustainability strategy starting from an analysis of the plastics sector and directly involving the heads of each function.

1

Plastics processing sector analysis: mapped sustainability trends in the industry (reduction of virgin raw materials, circular economy, eco-design), emerging regulations, and stakeholder expectations in the irrigation, plumbing, and water treatment sectors.

2

Workshop with function heads: directly involved company decision-makers in identifying priority thematic areas where Plastica Alfa could generate greater impact and value.

3

Definition of strategic pillars: structured the Plan around four operational pillars: Human Resources and Organizational Structure, Innovation and Digitalization, Value Creation for Customers and Territory, Energy Efficiency and Territory.

4
Three-year Strategic Plan: translated the pillars into concrete actions with measurable KPIs, timelines, and responsibilities, ensuring consistency with the United Nations SDGs and the corporate Business Plan.
5

Drafting of the Sustainability Report: collected 2021 ESG data, structured the first voluntary report according to reporting standards, and published the document to communicate transparency and social responsibility to stakeholders and the community.

The results

  • Sustainability governance: Plastica Alfa has integrated sustainability into the daily operational management of all corporate functions, moving beyond the logic of isolated initiatives.

  • Operational three-year roadmap: achieved a Strategic Plan with concrete actions across four pillars, measurable KPIs, and defined timelines, aligned with the SDGs and the Business Plan.

  • Transparency towards stakeholders: voluntarily published the first 2021 Sustainability Report, communicating ESG performance to customers, suppliers, employees, and the local community.

  • Competitive positioning: strengthened its reputation in the plastics processing sector as a company that publicly reports on its environmental and social commitment, even though not legally required to do so.
